Is it a remastered version or just the awful HDDVD version from a few years ago?

Same question, ditto.

I'll be sticking to my Criterion DVD version upscaled for a long time I think. Kubrick nut that I am, I'm not too fussed about having it in HD especially with a good upscale. The extras on the Criterion are well worth it.

I agree.

This Blu-ray doesn't even have an equivalent to the audio commentary on the Criterion DVD.

I am slowly realising that I can happily watch a LOT of my DVDs upscaled as opposed to upgrading to the Blu-ray version.

I know the difference is sometimes noticeable but it depends on the source material and the transfer meaning Blu-ray does not guarantee a noticeably better viewing experience...

I watched 'Sin City' on DVD upscaled with Dts yesterday and could not see how Blu-ray could improve on it...

I totally agree with you both, no matter what home theatre system you have, at the end of the day its really the source material and the transfer that counts, and from what i have seen and read, I dont believe that Blu Ray is everything that its cracked up to be.

Sin City looks a lot better on BD than it does upscaled on DVD. Some BD's yea there is not much difference but when you get a top Blu-ray like I Robot or any of the Pirate films its a lot better than DVD.

With this release I think I will too just make do with the Criterion. Unless it gets good reviews.
