Lionsgate and Hit Entertainment have announced the US DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Collection on 22nd September 2009. Created and directed by Nick Park, this collection includes all four made for TV Wallace & Gromit adventures. They are: A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave and their latest title, A Matter of Loaf and Death.

Priced at $29.98 SRP on 4-Disc DVD and $29.99 SRP on Blu-ray Disc, extras are the same on both formats and outlined below…

A Grand Day Out
  • Audio commentary with creator Nick Park
  • “Amazing Adventures of Wallace & Gromit” featurette
  • 4 Cracking Contraptions

The Wrong Trousers
  • Audio commentary with creator Nick Park
  • “Inside The Wrong Trousers” featurette
  • 3 Cracking Contraptions

A Close Shave
  • Audio commentary with creator Nick Park
  • “How It Was Done” featurette

A Matter of Loaf and Death
  • Audio Commentaries with the director and editor
  • “How They Donut” The Making of A Matter of Loaf and Death featurette

  • Shaun the Sheep Off The Baa Bonus Episode

In addition, the DVD set includes packaging that features the duo in 3-D molded forms.

A Matter of Loaf and Death will also be available separately on DVD priced at $14.98 SRP.

Four discs?! Surely that means either ludicrously long documentaries or, more likely, a load of wasted space?

Good point. My mistake though, it looks like the Blu is just 1 disc so i've updated the above.

I'm interested, but there are two questions in particular I need answered: how good are the HD masters of the older episodes, and will they be slowed down to 24p or some crappy conversion to 60i? (I assume they were all filmed with 25p in mind.) Or maybe it's better to wait for a UK release altogether.

URGH - Already bought the Matter of Loaf and Death over here when it came out, feel kinda stitched as always by a potentially better US release

I think they are pushing it, calling it the complete collection though

Seeing as it doesn't have the Were Rabbit on there, I know its Dreamwork's so they wouldn't but Complete is well misleading
