Why don't they include the theatrical cut on the BD using branching?

Really like that Director's Cut cover! Glad I'll be going Blu in time to get this. I will continue to wear clothes though.

There's talk of an Ultimate edition in the works as well according to other sites. This film will be awesome on Blu-ray.

The Ultimate Edition is a definite -- it's an even longer version of the film featuring Tales of the Black Freighter + more live action footage to integrate that.

Added a few additional snippets of info (DC is 25mins longer according to Warner). The sellsheet say the BD featurettes total over 110mins.

Hmm.... an ultimate edition eh? I already ordered my R2 copy from HMV as they have exclusive Rorschach packaging (HMV DVD Exclusive), for blu-ray they have Dr. Manhattan packaging (HMV Blu-ray Exclusive). I already have Tales... but if they're bringing out another edition with it included in the film I'll probably have to cancel my order and wait for that one, hopefully DVDtimes will keep us posted :)

27th July for the R2 based on retailer listings (see the post above yours). Nothing official from Paramount yet though.

re: the Ultimate Edition that people are talking about. While I know it has been discussed by those involved with the film, I wouldn't expect Warner or Paramount to make a big song or dance about it until these editions have been out for a while and made them some money.

Blasted BR exclusive. What's the bet on a three-disc SD in the future? So is the new footage just Tales or is there more of the film as well? I'm a bit disappointed. I was sort of hoping for more extras. Still, I'll give it a rent. Wonder what the new footage will entail?

Just before the cinema release Snyder confirmed the Ultimnate edition for the end of the year (I would imagine in one of those big boxes with extra "stuff in" like I am Legend & 300 last year and blade runner the year before) it should be announced at the SDCC this summer. As noted above Ultimate edition will be the directors cut plus the tales of the black freighter integrated with linking live action footage. It probably won't be a blu ray exclusive.

I'd love for a big release of this at the end of the year with the 3 cuts, the Black Freighter/Under The Hood DVD, the Watchmen Motion Comic DVD, a reprint of the gfx novel and an enamel badge, all presented in a nice tin!

Won't happen, but I can dream - meantime will import Directors Cut from US.
