Fox Home Entertainment have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of The French Connection and its sequel French Connection II on 24th February 2009. Gene Hackman stars as iconic New York City Police Detective Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle, a man who will stop at nothing to get his man. Directed by William Friedkin, Doyle and his partner Buddy Russo (Roy Scheider) work to break a narcotics smuggling ring in The French Connection. The sequel, directed by John Frankenheimer, sees Doyle head to Marseilles tracking the one drug trafficker that eluded him in the original.

There are some new and interesting looking features on these discs.
Tonyleung: both these films are gripping, II sometimes even more than the original. It really is an underrated sequel.
Looks like I'll be saying goodbye to my 3 disc boxset.
